AUM BioTech, LLC is responsible for the personal data this policy describes. The mailbox for anything about your data is CustomerCare@aumbiotech.com.

What we collect and why

  • Orders and quotations. We collect contact, delivery and billing details, tax and customs numbers, what you order and any note you add. We use them to price, make, deliver, invoice and support the order.
  • Accounts. We record your name, email address, institution, saved addresses, your sign-ins, and whether you asked for news by email. We use them to sign you in, to show your orders and addresses, and to send news only if you asked for it.
  • Meetings. Our scheduling provider's calendar receives what you type into it, to arrange the meeting. If you are signed in, it also receives your name and email address when it opens.
  • Security. We record the address of your connection and what your browser sends with each request. We check that you are a person on the checkout and the sign-in form, and check card payments for fraud. The service that checks you are a person works for us under its Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
  • Site use. Our analytics provider records the pages you open, your searches, how you arrived and steps such as placing an order, with an identifier for your browser.
  • Videos. A video we share by link may carry the name of the person it is for. We record each play of a private video through its share link, with its time, its length and how far it reached. Where the link asks for an email code, we also record the email address you give and when each code confirmed it. Each play through that link is kept with the address. We use them to see who watches the videos we share.
  • Researchers we write to. When we write to researchers, their contact details may come from published papers or a professional data provider, and our first email to each says where the details came from and that they may object at any time.

For orders, accounts and meetings, we rely on the contract with you, or on steps you ask us to take before one. For the security checks and our emails to researchers, we rely on our legitimate interests in protecting the site, accounts and payments, and in telling researchers about our products. For the records of the videos we share, we rely on our legitimate interest in knowing who watches them. For site use where you are asked, and for news by email, we rely on your consent. We also keep order, invoice and payment records because tax and accounting law requires them.

The details the checkout asks for are needed to make and deliver an order, and an order cannot be placed without them.

Who receives personal data

We pass personal data to the service providers that run the site and fulfill orders, each for its own task. They host the site and its database, hold customer records, send email, deliver videos, take card payments, check that you are a person, measure site use and run the booking calendar. The carrier that delivers an order and the manufacturing partner that makes it receive what their tasks need. We also disclose personal data where the law requires it.

In a laboratory account, the members who hold the laboratory view can see its orders and who placed each one.

AUM BioTech is in the United States, and your data is processed there. For data from the European Union and the United Kingdom, our providers' data processing terms include the standard contractual clauses where they apply. You can ask for a copy at CustomerCare@aumbiotech.com.

Cookies and browser storage

Our analytics provider, Google Analytics, sets two cookies, which last 2 years, to measure how the site is used. Where it runs, our own pages also count where visitors click and how far they scroll, and we keep only totals.

To prevent fraud, our card payment processor sets two cookies when you choose to pay by card.

A cookie of ours keeps a video's share link open for 2 hours, or 30 days after an email code, and never past the link's end. Four cookies let our content delivery network serve a video while it plays, and last 20 minutes.

Your browser's own storage keeps what you type on the checkout and request forms for 24 hours at most. It keeps display choices, such as the theme, until you change them or clear the storage. It keeps where each video stopped for 90 days.

When you use the site, our analytics provider, our card payment processor and the service that checks you are a person may collect information about your online activity over time and across different websites. Our scheduling provider may do the same once its calendar is opened.

Rights and requests

You can ask what personal data we hold about you, and ask for it to be corrected, deleted, restricted or sent to you or another company in a portable form. Write to CustomerCare@aumbiotech.com from the email address you use with us. If you have an account, you can also see and correct your details on your account page.

You can object at any time to our use of personal data that relies on our legitimate interests, such as the security checks and our emails to researchers, and to news by email.

Where you are asked for consent to analytics, you can withdraw it at any time with the link at the foot of every page. You can withdraw consent to news by email at any time on the account page. Withdrawing consent does not affect what was done before.

In the European Union, you can complain to a data protection authority, in particular in the country where you live or work. In the United Kingdom, you can complain to us and to the Information Commission.
