Explore by tissue Human Homo sapiens

Human tissues, from two sources

Two sources, each ranking genes in its own unit and never on one axis with the other: GTEx's 54 tissue sites of the gtex_v10 release, every gene ranked by median expression in TPM, and the Human Protein Atlas's 37 tissue groups, the genes it classes as elevated with its own nTPM. Both are human; this explorer serves no other species.

GTEx

The 54 tissue sites of GTEx Analysis v10

Grouped as the release's own tissue table groups them, with the number of RNA-seq samples the release states for each. These are post-mortem tissues from deceased donors, in GTEx's own description; each page says so. The genes of a tissue are GTEx's ranking by median expression, in TPM, v39 on GRCh38/hg38.

The Human Protein Atlas

The 37 tissue groups of the atlas's specificity classification

The groups the atlas's tissue specificity field accepts, each opening the genes the atlas classes as tissue enriched, group enriched or tissue enhanced there, in the atlas's own nTPM, with the atlas's consensus values where its table has a row of that name. nTPM is not TPM, and the atlas's GTEx column is an earlier GTEx release folded into it; the two lists on this page are never compared.
